History
The sanctity of cows is not a new concept in Indian culture. This beautiful, peaceful creature represents Mother Earth and each of her offerings has been considered sacred and pure since time immemorial. While cow’s milk, curd, butter, buttermilk, ghee, etc. are still consumed for its nutritious and rejuvenating properties, the importance of cow dung is slowly being forgotten.
Pancharatna is a brand of the Gujarat-based company, Pancharatna Ayurveda, created when Rajiv Dixit, an indigenous patron, introduced cow-based Panchagavya Ayurveda products to a small group of the indigenous community.
Long before 2014, cows were seen merely as lumps of meat or milk-producing machines, and the Pink Revolution was not banned. There was an uproar regarding cow protection and volunteers were seizing trucks loaded with cow meat. This was certainly a way of cow protection that came to the mind of everyone who worshiped and cared for the divine life.But he wanted a more harmonious approach where the root cause could be understood. Cow farmers were selling bulls, non-milking and old cows because their maintenance was “not profitable”.
So the need was for an economy based on something that could be exchanged for the cow at any age of its life. There were volunteers who started working in this area. He wanted actions to speak louder than words. Thus, “Pancharatna” Panchagavya based Ayurvedic Pharmacy’ was born!
Pancharatna Ayurveda began using Indian traditional knowledge of Ayurveda to understand the importance of Pancha-gavya (cow dung, milk, ghee, curd and cow urine) derived from Indian native cows. We understood that these Gavyas are not just content, but steps to a healthy life. These Gavyas were not used by the so called civilized society due to its misunderstanding and misinterpreted flavor and conduct.

People have been using A2 cow ghee for thousands of years! It is used as a cooking fat, to nourish the body from within, and even as a medicine. Not all fats are bad fats that cause weight gain. In contrast, ghee is a healthy, nutrient-rich fat that helps reduce bad fat. In just one tablespoon of ghee you will get the right amount of good fats to aid digestion and metabolize the nutrients from your food!
Our Ghee is actually an ideal cooking fat due to its high smoke point. Each fat has a different smoke point. If you cook it past its smoke point you may destroy all the healthy nutrients it contains. Think about it. Cooking food above the smoke point would be like diluting an antibiotic and hoping it will still be effective! The smoke point of butter is 200-250F. The smoke point of coconut oil is 350F. The smoke point of ghee is 485F.

Inspiration
Today in our family we were living our lives peacefully, busy in family work throughout the day. But, everyone’s life has a meaning and we thought, our life is lacking the same. Then, destiny took us to the great Swadeshi speaker Shri Rajeev Dixit who was speaking in a powerful voice about the greatness of Mother Cow. Mother cow’s place in our lives was more than that of a family member.She was considered a mother who nurtured her sons and daughters with milk, protected them from diseases with her cow urine and made the land fertile for growing grains with her dung. His oxen plow the fields and are an integral part of everyday chores of life such as transportation and irrigation. The first bread in every house was for him which was called ‘Gaugras’. From naming ceremony to marriage ceremony or funeral, no ceremony was considered complete without them.He was always called Gaudhan.
In these years after independence, we have almost lost them and with it our deepest values. The struggle for which actually began with him, when one of his true sons refused to put his flesh-stained cartridge in his mouth. Our beloved mother has now been forgotten and thrown out of the house, left to feed herself in the dustbin. They are being slaughtered brutally so that our great country can become the largest beef exporter in the world.
The words of the great Swadeshi orator Rajiv Dixit moved us. He challenged the youth of this country to rise up and bring it back to its rightful place which is our hearts. His many speeches about cow deeply awakened the love for mother cow in our hearts and we started cow service by opening the first cow shelter in Gujarat.

By serving cows, we realized that the greatness of mother cow is actually the greatness of her qualities. Their milk is nectar, their cow urine is lifesaver and their dung is a blessing. The love and compassion that flows in her eyes.. the positivity that she fills you with when you lay your head on her back.. the peace that you feel when she is at peace and happy.
We can understand why the Rigveda called him aghanya (never to be killed) and why the Yajurveda called him incomparable to anything in this universe (gostu matra na vidhyate). We can understand why the Supreme Lord had to take birth as Rama and Krishna to take up His cause on this earth.We can understand why cow slaughter was banned even during the time of Muslim rulers and the first slaughter house in this country was built by the British in 1760. We can understand why Mahatma Gandhi wanted a complete ban on cow slaughter as the first action of the government of independent India,and finally, we could understand the mission of Rajiv Dixit whose voice gave us the meaning of our lives that cow mother should really be. We started thinking and researching about ways in which we can contribute to this great cause of bringing back the glory of our beloved mother cow. Let’s bring mother cow back into our hearts and lives. Mother cow’s place in our lives was more than that of a family member.
